More salt in our blog...

Savoury radish cake (lobak ko, $14 for 1/2 which is 8 inch by 4 inch) which according to the article published in "A Classic Cake Guy", Business Times Weekend, 12 November 2005, came from his mother's recipe.

The description from the webbie,
"Made from a traditional family recipe, this smooth and savoury cake is bursting with flavour from bits of radish/yam, Chinese sausage and dried shrimp. Liberally topped with fried shallots, spring onions and sliced chilies, every bit packs a punch."

A closer look

I have also bought the pumpkin / yam combo for yuan ($7.50 for 1/4 which is 4 inch by 4 inch),
The description is as follows

"In this twist on a traditional Chinese favourite, we combine chunky yams and sweet golden pumpkins with Chinese sausage and dried shrimp to create a gastronomic adventure. Fried shallots, spring onions and chilli slices combine to ensure a delightful burst of flavour in every bite."

The radish cake has a bitter after-taste, apart from that, the texture and amount of raddish is just right. Rich, smooth and salty enough. Well, I think I would prefer the raddish cake from Crystal Jade, at least it is sold in smaller portions, more convenient and I just love the taste of hei bi.

Pumpkin / Yam Combo: This yam cake just has all the right combinations. The pumpkin makes the overall cake soft. The chinese sausage adds a little sweetness to it. Overall i would say it is worth a try.
