BlackForest

A traditional favourite combining moist chocolate sponge with layers of chocolate cream and kirsch soaked cherries. Each slice costs $7.90++ and a whole cake will be $75++.

BlackForest Cake

In a way, this version of Black Forest resembles closely to what Mezza9 offers. Apart from the chocolate sheet supporting at the back of the cake, the cream in both cakes are similarly bland. What makes this slightly better than Mezza9's is the less sour berries and the overall texture is not overwhelmed by Kirsch.

Yea, I realize the decoration varies... guess it depends on the baker or the waitress...

Before your post, I thought it was originally on the cake, they just drizzle some sauce and serve...

hehe really? it looks nicerrrrr with the butterfly!!

anyway i thought this kinda black forest is acceptable for me coz it has more choc mousse than the traditional kind where there's more sponge cake, which i hate. but still, not a convert yet tho' i do like obolo's foret noire verrine :D

True, guess I was just lucky... In fact, I was surprised by the decor on the plate... Anyway, $7.90+ for this form of Blackforest is alittle steep. Can get cheaper ones from hotels =)

Ah, so you prefer Blackforest with chocolate mousse, then Checkers Deli and SomethingToGo are along that line...

Haha, this second time you mention about Obolo's foret noire verrine on my bloggie, guess I should drop by Obolo real soon...
