Blackforest by DeSté

Blackforest
Chocolate cream, cherries in brandy, flourless chocolate sponge and lots of chocolate ($9.40)

This cake is really dense, the overall impression that I got after taking my first bite was "Did I just ate liquor chocolate?" Those that love the chocolate liquor combination will love this. My only complaint is the blend cream used in this black forest.

I knew it, flourless sponge won't work for blackforest cake. Was deciding between this & Charlotte which the server recommended. My choice wasn't good either. No more DeSté for me.

Actually its not that bad, though not like your conventional black forest but I liked the flourless chocolate sponge.

I am fine with the flourless sponge, very thin and thus its presence is almost undetectable.

What puts me off is an aftertaste which I associate with the cheaper or rather artificial version of Blackforest found in the chocolate mousse.

It might be just cherry + liquor.
