Chocolate Truffle Log

Chocolate Truffle Log

Apart from Fairmont Singapore having their log cakes sold in 2 sizes, Pat's Pastry also have theirs in 2 sizes too (i.e. $13.90 for 350gm and $28.90 for 1kg).

In terms of design, this doesn't look as complicated as Fairmont's Chocolate Crispy Classic but its combination is pretty similar to the former. Made of chocolate sponge and chocolate buttercream, encased in dark chocolate shell. This fares better as it is not sweet but the texture of the chocolate sponge is slightly coarse than the former.

Chocolate Truffle Log II

Would have to say that its niche lies in its pricing and it being not too sweet. Not a bad choice since it is well-received among my 5 friends.

Mix Cake by Pat and Felcor

Strawberry & Blueberry Slice

Mix Cake (5 slices of each @ $18.90)

Blueberry Slice & Strawberry Slice - The sponge are the same for these two apart from its filling (i.e. blueberry jam vs sliced strawberries + whipped cream). Pretty old-school taste and thumbs up to its soft chiffon.

Hazelnut Chocolate Truffle - See previous post

Dark Forest

Dark Forest - Pat and Felcor's version of blackforest, instead of coating the side with chocolate flakes, this one comes with chocolate coating for more flavour. Similarly to Four leaves , this is an in-between of the blackforest from neighbourhood bakeries (i.e. chocolate sponge with whipping cream) and the more expensive ones (i.e. kirish soaked cherries, chocolate mousse and chocolate sponge). The overall combination is pretty good, in fact better than Mezza9.

Chocolicious by Pat & Felcor

Eclairs & Tarts

Chocolicious (5 slices of each @ $18.90) and it contains the following,

Chocolate Eclair - For those who has followed our chocolate eclairs' reviews , we are not fans of this dessert due to the weak chocolate content. So, in a way, this didn't really stand out among the 4 and I would say the choux pastry lacks the fragrance, thus pretty similar to what one will get from neighbourhood bakeries. Moreover, this is one that has more choux pastry than chocolate cream.

Ganach Tart - Similar to what I feel towards Obolo's chocolate noir , it is tasty for its crunchy tartlet and smooth, bittersweet chocolate ganache.

Hazelnut Chocolate Truffle

Hazelnut Chocolate Truffle - Honestly, I am pretty surprised by the name of this cake, because the hazelnut was only negilible. It tasted like chocolate sponge cake with cocoa powder.

Chocolate brownies

Brownies - What differentiates from the usual chocolate brownies is the crunch which might be due to the addition of nuts. Unlike the dry and muffin-like texture, the presence of nuts seems to improve the texture.
