Pasta @ Al Forno Trattoria

Al Forno Trattoria

Situated at a quiet corner of Goldhill Centre, we were surprised by the existence of a good Italian restaurant and more amazed that it has been around since 1992. Five minutes away from Novena MRT, Al Forno Trattoria offers a cosy and causal dining place for good pasta (and pizzas).

With the use of rattan chairs and a blend of white, blue and red table cloth, the place does exude a quaint charm. Moreover, the neatly arranged bottles of wines and framed pictures or photographs allow diners to sit back and relax.

Currently there is 1-for-1 pasta or pizza promotion which is available for all citibank card holders till 31 May 2009, on the condition that a minimum purchase of 2 standard drinks. Between the choice of 2 pastas or 2 pizzas, we have settled with the former but trust us, our review on their pizzas will appear on our blog in a matter of time.

Spaghetti Alio Olio

Spaghetti Alio Olio ($16.00++), a classic simple dish indeed captivate both our taste buds. The combination of herbs, generous amount of garlic, white wine and olive oil compliments perfectly with the springy, mildly sweetened spaghetti. The garlic is not at all overwhelming due to the use of wine and herbs, in fact the wine is pretty distinctive in every bite.

Spaghetti Vongole

Spaghetti Vongole ($18.50++), surprised us with overwhelmingly generous serving of clams. In fact, the amount served in a portion is more than the spaghetti itself. Served, or rather soaked in a nice blend of white wine sauce, send us to sulp down every single bit of it.

Spaghetti Vongole

Of course, our lovely lunch ends with a sweet note which is none other the popular Italian dessert and its classic rum-soaked Blackforest.

I have a feeling that the Al Forno along East Coast is different from this one. At least from their website, only this branch is mentioned...

It is actually at the back of Goldhill Centre, so you wouldn't see it unless you deliberately walked to the back of the area.

I dunno how authentic this is but I definitely enjoyed my meal there...

Al Forno Trattoria seems to have closed down. It is no longer there.

Hi Anonymous,

Thank you for the information.

I have updated the blog and remove it from my drop-down.

Quite surprised the place has closed down as it looks like it has been around for a long time.
